The Pottery workshop “stamnadiko” of Agia Marina

The Pottery workshop of Agia Marina producing “stamnes” (clay pots) is the one where Uncle Pantelis Eleftheriou used to work.

Originating from Sifnos Island is what inspired his artwork. The term “sifnios" was used in many islands and Andros, meaning pottery maker as many people from Sifnos brought their knowledge with them. The complex includes a treadmill, a press, a kiln and potter cell with "p'so" (the built-in dry stone column that holds the ceiling). There is one more” stamnadiko” at the Kalamia area and there were two more in the Bay, near Chrysostrati’s house and one below the Khones in the Valley.
